Counting the cost ahead of time is crucial to the cabinet remodeling project. Unless you get lucky and find some cabinets at a discount, you should be prepared to pay for quality. You can always search for lower-priced alternatives, but cheap cabinets tend to look cheap. You certainly don’t want you kitchen to look worse than when you started.

Measure everything to make sure your new cabinets provide enough storage space for your cookware, dishes and other kitchen items. As a general rule, I don’t think I’ve ever heard the complaint, “I have too much cabinet space!” If you budget can handle it, try coordinating the walls with your new kitchen cabinet finishes. This will give your kitchen a complete designer look and avoid mismatched colors and textures.

High-quality, innovative design takes time and costs money, so don’t expect to buy beauty for the price of basic. But if you invest in better kitchen cabinets, you can expect a better return when it comes time to sell your home. So if you have the money to spend in your budget, don’t be stingy with it. If the price of replacing your cabinets is too much to pay, then you may be able to refinish for less.
