You might think it would resemble something a panda would eat, but it actually just looks like a hardwood floor. It has a couple of advantages over a real hardwood floor, but, even so, it might not be the right type of flooring for you. Be sure to look at the traits of hardwood, laminate, linoleum, and bamboo flooring to find which one is the best to suit your style and your household, as well as your budget.

One of the advantages of bamboo flooring is that it allows the consumer to have a real wood floor, while eliminating the need to cut down trees. It is also a bit cheaper than hardwood floors. They add to the resale value of a house if they are well kept, and they have all of the style of hardwood flooring.

A disadvantage that some people have experienced with bamboo flooring is a lack of durability. Darker bamboo flooring is created by pressure steaming it. This carbonizes the bamboo to make it darker. The darker the flooring, the less durable it will be. It can be prone to dents and scratches. However, it all really depends on how the bamboo is processed and treated.

The best thing you can do to find out if bamboo flooring is durable enough for you is to get a sample of it, and to press it with your thumbnail or a coin. Some stores have better quality bamboo flooring. But bamboo flooring is generally about as durable as normal hardwood floors. If you are careful to not slide furniture around, and if you make sure the bamboo is well made, you will prevent premature damage and you will enjoy your bamboo flooring for a long time.

Laminate flooring has been a very popular material for floors in the past few decades. There are many reasons why it may or may not be your preferred flooring choice. It is a very durable, convenient and cheap flooring, but you might want something a little different. Look at the pros and cons of having laminate flooring to find out if it is the right flooring decision for you.

For one thing, laminate flooring is incredibly easy to install. You could do it yourself. The modern laminate flooring that you can find in stores today locks together, and then you will just have to activate the glue by dampening it. It is so easy a child could help out. Unlike putting down tiles, you will not have to cut off access to your house when you put it in. This is crucial if you have pets or small children, who normally could ruin a newly tiled kitchen or living room. Laminate flooring is also a lot cheaper than real hardwood floors, and has a lot of advantages to it as well.

Laminate flooring is also very easy to clean. It can withstand some moisture, but not large amounts of it. It is nearly scratch and crack resistant, and lasts for years. However, a common problem people have with laminate flooring is that it can be very slippery. For some people, this is an annoyance, if not a hazard. For others still, it makes owning a laminate floor much more enjoyable.

However, a real hardwood floor will increase the resale value of any house, while a laminate floor could decrease it. Some people are not happy with not having real wood floors, while others are perfectly comfortable with it. It is really just a matter of taste, as laminate flooring is otherwise a fairly easy to maintain, affordable type of flooring.
